Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is submitted to the third-party provider serving that result path; our servers do not retain a copy of the search. A message sent to us contains only the information included in that message, which is used to respond.
Routine Technical Data
Our host may maintain ordinary logs such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate for maintenance and audience measurement. Cookies or similar technologies can support ordinary analytics and, where used, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
Limited data helps operate the service, correct faults, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services and Links
The reference links to Town, county, New York, library, archive, and third-party search services. Once information is submitted to one of those services, its own privacy policy controls. The same is true of sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers can process technical logs for us. Analytics or advertising providers may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
Safeguards and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. Because no accounts are offered, this service does not hold visitor passwords or user profiles.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information, and it will be removed.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask about personal information a service keeps. Research did not identify a comprehensive New York consumer-privacy or data-broker deletion statute that applies to public records. Because this service retains very little, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and available logs, then removing applicable material. Use the Contact page. Records held by New York, Schenectady County, or Town of Niskayuna custodians remain outside our control; direct a record request to that custodian under the applicable rule, including FOIL.
Policy Changes
Any revision will be posted here. Continued use after publication means acceptance of the revised policy.
